[Of all the places to end up, Caer Scima is at least not one of the worst for a young Unseelie shardbearer to be dragged to. Still, it doesn't make Mirai happy, to say the least. She was sleeping when she was kidnapped, but that's no excuse.

She's sulking in the great hall.]

Papa won't be happy if I tell him I was pushed around by some imps. Even if they are from outside of Makai.

[It'd be a lie to say she ever expected this.

Lucifer always hangs around for the arrival of newcomers without fail; it isn't just for familiar faces, but to make good with new allies; and let's be honest, it really isn't so different from how she spent her time worldhopping by her own power to begin with. It was always about winning people over.

But passing through the arrivals - picking out the odd face or two as 'maybe' - one is recognizable.

And it's...surprising. Legitimate, honest surprise.]

...Mirai?

[The sound of her name makes Mirai snap out of her sulk, and of course she turns to the person who addressed her, but-

That person doesn't immediately look like someone she recognizes. Maybe a teenager from around her place on Earth, but none of them would really have a reason to know her name.

Someone from Makai, probably. Once she's thought that, she's almost sure of it. She seems familiar, somehow.]

Hi. I know you, right?

[Sorry, Papa, your disguise is a little too good today.]

Uh, yeah, you do-

[She trails off, mostly because...well, really doesn't want to say who she is out loud in such a crowded area.

At this point, nobody in the Drabwurld would care, she knows that - but the fact is, the benefit of having two identities can't be understated, especially considering one of them is able to gain the trust of others much more easily.

And at this point even the King's right hand couldn't contact Lucifer with any ease, and she'd agreed to work with her as a part of one of her personal squads.

So...hopefully it won't be too difficult to convince Mirai to-]

...hey, could we go somewhere more private? The two of us? We have a lot to talk about.

[It would be really stupid to not be at least a little suspicious of someone unknown saying that. Mirai's hand goes to her Deviriser just to reassure herself that it's there- but, no, that won't work here. She'd already tested it out and gotten nothing.

After a moment, she nods. She's without any direction here anyway, and someone from home would at least be able to give her some information about where she is, if not necessarily reliable information.]

Sure thing. Do you have anywhere in mind?

The courtyard should do. It isn't too far from here, but everyone's too busy taking part in the feast to isolate themselves.

[One or two might be there, but it's likely they can use it for the purpose Lucifer has in mind anyway. It's a walk through the hall the feast is in, through a few corridors passing countless doors along the way, but eventually they're outside under the night sky.

At the very least they're not out of sight of the other people around, just earshot, so maybe it's a little more comforting than having a stranger drag you to the forest or something.]

...I really didn't expect to see you here. It's not that you can't handle yourself, of course, but-

Could this be concern? Or joy? I can't quite place it; it's been so long.

[Let papa have the moment. Things'll make sense in a second.]

[Now Mirai's sure that it must be someone she knows, and someone who knows her enough to be happy or concerned that she's shown up. There's only a few people like that, and she knows what most of them look like.

There's just one that she knows changes his face, sometimes, when he feels the need or the whim.]

...Papa?

[She laughs - quiet, contained, just from the amusement of recognition — yet nods all the same.]

It didn't take you as long as I'd hoped...perhaps I ought to work on my acting. But—

[But, all that aside...

She leans forward and places both hands on Mirai's shoulders, giving her a smile. One nobody else in the Drabwurld would ever experience, of genuine affection.]

My dearest, it's just as you say...to think we'd be reunited here.

[That smile is returned, love in every bit of her expression from her smile to the sparkle in her eyes.]

Your acting's good, I just ruled out everybody else. And your disguise is really good this time. [Nothing like the face she knows him by.]

Has it been a long time?

[For Mirai, it hasn't really - she sees her father as often as she wants to, and doesn't go more than a few weeks without some sort of contact. She's well aware that he'll outlive her, but that idea isn't one she likes to dwell on much.]

But the question...it probably will get an answer she's not expecting, considering how time works here and all, but-]

...I believe it's been...more than a year. Almost a year and a half, I've participated in this war, stuck in this one place.

I'm terribly unused to staying still so long, but it's out of my hands.

But all that can wait.

[Because...Lucifer is a dad who hasn't seen their kid in over a year.

So she readjusts herself just a little, both arms embracing her daughter with an affectionate grip.

It's not so much a sense of longing that this is fulfilling - not exactly a thought to be vocalized, but Mirai hasn't really been on Lucifer's mind this past year - but now that she's here, right in front of her that she can even embrace her like this, of course she's happy to have her around again.

Because in all the time she'd spent here, there's not a single person she feels this way about. She'd cut off all ties and kill everyone she'd gotten to know here if she had to.

But only her daughter would be spared that kind of pragmatism. Right now, for the very first time since arriving, she feels a genuine sense of relief and joy.

Quite frankly it's.....bizarre. But in a good way. She never understood what it was like to have a father, but she very much enjoys being one.]

You haven't changed a bit.

[Mirai returns her father's hug. It's softer than she's used to getting from him, but that's just a result of him taking this shape.]

Sorry I was away for so long.

[Even if she doesn't really understand how that could happen, a week's separation for her and a year's for him, she believes it when he says so.

Was he lonely here? He'll never admit it even if she asks, so she doesn't ask.]

Of course! It's only natural you'll live with me. I have- well, that is to say my servant possesses a place of their own, but he won't object to you staying.

And so long as we're here, consider him your own as well.

[Granted, not entirely convinced Hyde will like Mirai...but Hyde will like what the Devil tells him to like.

[Mirai can be sweet and cute! Jekyll will probably be easy enough to get to like her, if not to get to like being the servant of a young girl.]

I'll be polite about it. [Since she's not sure Papa isn't just planning to throw his weight around, especially with his own servant. And it is kind of rude to just barge in and decide to live somewhere.

Not that she can't be rude, when it's deserved, but she doesn't know anything about this guy yet.]

But, Papa, if you're planning to look like this... Won't it seem suspicious? I could call you Mama, but you don't look old enough to have me.

Oh, we needn't worry about that. Just as my time spent here hasn't affected your perception temporally speaking, so can people be brought here from any time or place. Nothing is linear.

[She pats Mirai's head reassuringly.]

We'll just say you're a little further along than I am.

Ah- and if anyone asks, my name is Hikaru.

That's a pretty name, Mama.

[She'll have to get used to it - it still sounds a little awkward to her, but it'll flow off the tongue right with some practice.]

And I guess Hikaru is a completely normal person? [Otherwise there wouldn't be much point to the disguise.]

Not exactly...in truth, I've been very honest with everyone! But some details had to be...omitted.

As far as they're concerned, she got into a fight with her overly religious father and got kicked out of her home. She isn't on good terms with her twin brother, and ever since then she's lived amongst demons.

Someone also noted how powerful my magic was even when I was trying to suppress it, so although she's powerful she has very little capability with magic. I even threw the first round of a magic tournament not too long ago.

[But that was to scout talent more than anything.]

...and the monarchs here know exactly who I am, but you won't be seeing much of them, so it isn't an issue.

[That was definitely some fight with her father. You could call it that.]

Well...hm. My servant is aware of my true identity. There's a girl called Shijima who is as well. You can trust both of them.

And I know this goes without saying, but exercise caution around the High King and High Queen. Especially the former...as petty as it is, I'm not pleased with some king of the fae adopting one of my names for his own use. If he acts with any familiarity, ignore it - he seems to be under the impression I'm some mere fragment of him. Pay no heed.

...but he is powerful, and in this world where I have yet to acclimatize, even more powerful than I am.

[A beat.]

[Mirai knows she's a young girl and it's normal for parents to worry, but she at least can take care of herself somewhat, and not get herself in trouble. Especially with her demons-

I haven't been able to summon any of my demons from my Deviriser. Someone told me that modern technology doesn't work here. Is there any other way I can summon them?

Ah...I guess I'll have to teach you how to do it without relying on them.

However, it will have to wait...bringing in demons involves doing work for the Monarchs and having them give you the capacity for it. I had to ask them for Beelzebub so I could summon him.

But the moment you do, come to me so I can show you. Relying on technology for that isn't suitable for someone like you.

[Studying from Papa sounds fun! Probably very difficult too, but she wouldn't expect anything less. Lucifer wants only the best from her and she doesn't want to disappoint.]

I'll be a good student! The best demon summoner you know. Besides you, I mean.

[She'll definitely never catch up to Papa.]

What kind of work do the Monarchs want?

Well, it really all depends...in my case, a war occurred about a year ago between both courts. I was rewarded for fighting and trying to rescue the jabberwock, even if it was a failure in the end.

It's best to keep your ear out. I believe some of the more influential members of the courts offer quests, but the work itself depends on who issues it. Completing it to gain the monarch's favor is what opens up the chance for reward.

[Fighting's definitely not an option for Mirai. Especially not without her demons. If Mama couldn't complete the goal, there's no way she'd have been able to.]

I'll listen. I'm not sure what else there is to do here yet.

[Does it have a school? Would she go even if there was one?]

In any case, you needn't worry yourself too much over it...I don't mind what you want to do.

If you'd like to stay out of the fighting, I can make arrangements. The same goes for whether or not you'd like to learn how to fight and get involved. Either way, papa will support you 100%.
